ICYE programme participants are usually young people between 16 to 30 years of age, who are recruited and selected by our National Committees regardless of their nationality or their ethnic, economic and religious background.

ICYE has a new program in Germany for People from 27 to 45 years of age which is called "Intergenerational Program" for 6 month or 1 year.

ACI Costa Rica gives Costa Rica’s young people the opportunity to know foreign countries, cultures and people for periods of one year. As a part of the experience, the exchanges will work in a social volunteer project, so that they will involve directly in the country’s society.

There are thousand of places waiting for you.
To help on the adaptation process, the committee that receives you, will offer you intensive basic lessons of the language that will help you to communicate quickly with the hosting families and the people of your project.

Cost of the program includes (Fee depending of the Continent)

This fee covers: Aerial ticket valid for a year, feeding and Lodging, insurance of medical expenses, life insurance and another one of damages to a third, monthly basic Pocket Money, basic language course and the participation in 3 seminaries during the year in the country of destiny and 2 in Costa Rica.

Payment modes

If you are selected, it comes to the preparation from legal contract, in where one stipulates the rights and duties of the participant during the year of exchange therefore the duties and obligations of ACI Costa Rica to the participant, also the payment dates.
The amount by the exchange, can be paid by one single payment or can be paid in monthly payments. The Participation Fee has to be paid before the Applicant leaves the Country.

Obtaining the Visa

• The Association will facilitate letters for obtaining and transaction of corresponding visas for the countries.
• The participant will cover the expenses, that generates the transactions in the consulates or embassies within Costa Rica, as well as in case of shipment outside the country of the documentation for the obtaining of visas of permanence been worth by 3 months or from a year to the countries of destiny, of equal way this applies in the case of renewing it when you are in the exchange.
• The participant will cover the expenses of the taxes to enter the countries that visit.

Requirements to participate

• To be from 16 to 30 years old.
• Costa Rican by birth or residents with Costa Rican passport.
• To be unmarried.
• To participate in the activities and Seminaries, before and after being selected, organized by the Association.
• To be conscious that the interchange is promoted as Cultural Social Project.
• To come to the Offices of the Association, where we will hand you out a Brochure with detailed information about the Program
• To offer a voluntary host family in Costa Rica.
• In case that your family cannot receive the foreigner they can pay an extra quota not to receive the foreigner.
• Those requirements applies as well for the Participants from 27 - 45 years of age.

Departure date of the program for January 2007 and July, August, September 2007:

The departure for January 2007 applies only for interested Candidates to Germany with the Intergenerational Program for 6 month or 1 year (people having 27 - 45 years of age).

Departure in July, August and September 2007 for 1 year are for: Europe, Africa, Asia/Pacific. For Latin America it would be Brazil.
